You'd have to be insane to get in the way of this man. He'd happily kill an entire neighborhood of people and your pet goldfish if he thought it'd be funny. His crazy acts may seem random or chaotic, but there is reason and motivation behind it and its name is Batman. I just love the idea that he just shuts down and becomes sane as soon as the Batman retires in Dark Knight Returns. As if he lost the love of his life. His purpose for being.
This is my first time drawing a full picture of the Joker. I usually just make little sketches and leave it at that, but after watching the Dark Knight Returns cartoons, you can't help but get inspired by it.

I had at first thought otherwise, but It’s good that Harley hadn’t been introduced yet; she wouldn’t work out with this version of him. For starters, I don’t think this Joker was ever interested in women, in any capacity, except as victims. So he may have used someone like her to escape once, but you can bet he didn’t keep her around very long at all.
